Black Houppelande

15th Century Houppelande

This is a 15th century male Houppelande. This particular garment is made of black silk and fully lined. The matching hat, or chaperone, is also made of black silk. It is worn with a bejeweled chain and also with a festive Yule garland for a celebration we attended.
